France - Fos sur Mer port strike, Montreal - Low Water Fee

France - Fos sur Mer Port Strike announced for Monday, July 5th

In continuing protest of retirement reforms, dockworkers at Fos sur Mer port will strike on Monday, July 5th for 24 hours and on Tuesday July 6th they will work one less hour per shift. JF Hillebrand France is re-scheduling loadings planned for Monday in efforts to minimize the impact on shipments.

Montreal - Hapag announces Low Water Additional Charge effective July 19th

Hapag Lloyd has announced that due to the water levels of the St. Lawrence river dropping below historical levels with no improvement forecasted in the next months, that they will implement a Low Water Additional for cargo at the port of Montreal. The Low Water Additional is effective July 19th, 2010 and will apply to all cargo moving via the port of Montreal to and from Europe on the SLCS 1 and 2 services as follows:

  • USD 100 per 20' ft container

  • USD 150 per 40' ft container

Note: JF Hillebrand USA Offices will be closed Monday, July 5th in observance of Independence Day.
