LA/Long Beach - Clerical Worker's Strike Action, Terminals Remain Open

The Office Clerical Unit (OCU) of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) went on strike shortly after midnight today on Thursday July 1st. Operations at the terminals were only briefly interrupted when the dockworkers refused to cross picket lines at a few locations. However an emergency arbitrator declared the strike illegal and ordered dockworkers back to work by 8 am the same morning. All port terminals are operational with port police officers monitoring the picket activity and assisting with traffic control in the affected areas.
